A great exercise to improve our legs extension is the hip flexor stretching.
How? Kneel on your left knee, and put your right foot in front of you so that your right knee is at 90 degrees and you feel a little tension in the hip flexor. To keep your balance, you can place your hands on your front thigh or on the ground, leaning your trunk slightly forward.
Keep this position for up to 3 minutes, trying to lower your hips gradually one minute at a time, to increase your leg opening.
Attention: always keep your hips at the same level. Moreover, the knee of the front leg mustn’t go beyond the toe line. Ideally, your tibia should be perpendicular to the ground.
Tip: never go beyond your pain tolerance level. Improving leg flexibility requires a great deal of patience and constancy. An abrupt movement may turn out to be counterproductive.
Variation: to increase the intensity of the exercise, you can put your hands on the floor and straighten your back leg.
